Breast Cancer: What is the best way to detect it?
While the mammogram is currently the best diagnostic tool, it is not a routine screening test for women of average risk until age 40. If you are under age 40, a monthly breast self-exam (BSE) and an annual breast exam by your doctor are the best ways to detect breast cancer.
